I am currently not accepting new clients [oct 2024]
I came to a realisation when I started developing myself as a therapist that I have always had an interest in and enjoyed working with people - across different organisations and in many different countries around the world.
I have managed and led small and large teams of people and have worked with many different cultures and have a working knowledge of some European languages.
As a therapist and supervisor, I work in private practice. Historically, I have volunteered as a therapist for PF Counselling and Crossreach PND service in Edinburgh. In addition, I frequently co-facilitated Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) courses with CHANGES Mental Health Project in West Lothian.
Mindfulness came into my life through the practice of martial arts which I started in my early 20s. I became, through my trainer, more interested in the Eastern philosophies that had fascinated me since my early teens, including Buddhism and Taoism and in how these can be applied to our daily activities in life.
I started my journey in psychotherapy in 2006. Having studied for a degree in psychology - prompted many years before by a teacher at school lending me a psychology book - I was looking for something that dealt with the human condition at a much deeper level, that reflected my experience of the interconnectivity of life and was attuned with Eastern philosophies.
Core Process Psychotherapy was, therefore, a natural fit and has enabled to deepen my awareness of my own process as well as given me the opportunity to support others in their exploration.
In September 2023, I graduated as a clinical supervisor with a Diploma in Contemplative Supervision from Karuna Devon and am entered on the UKCP register for supervisors.
I am an accredited member of United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists (UKCP), a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the British Psychological Society. I am also a member of the Association For Prenatal And Perinatal Psychology And Health (APPPAH).
I have completed several hundred hours of CPD related to pre- and perinatal psychology including the APPPAH's Pre- and Perinatal Educator Certificate. I completed a doctorate (PhD) in pre- and prenatal experiences at the University of Edinburgh. I have also undertaken training as an Integrative Baby Therapist.
I have been - and continue to be - a life-long learner and have several formal qualifications as well as continuous professional development trainings. My formal qualifications include:
BSc(Hons) Psychology
MA in Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapeutic Practice
MSc in Occupational Psychology
Pre- and Perinatal Educator Certificate
Certificate in End-of-life Care
Test User: Occupational Ability
Test User: Occupational Personality
Masters in Business Administration
